Erosion control & Stabilisation
AHC are specialists in Erosion control & Stabilisation
We provide hydroseeding and erosion control solutions in New Zealand's north island from the far north down to central north island.
Erosion control & Stabilisation
When it comes to farms, roading, railways, quarries, major civil engineering projects for councils and professional civil companies in New Zealand, the importance of rapid revegetation measures cannot be overestimated. Stabilisation hydroseeding can play a crucial role in stopping sediment runoff and preventing slips.
Stabilisation Hydroseeding is the process of spraying a specially mixed slurry composed of water, wood fibre, fertiliser and eco-friendly binder in a single application.
This technique of Hydroseeding is ideal on large and or steep terrains and hard to access sites, offering solutions for dust control, erosion prevention, and sediment runoff management.
Once the grass seed begins to establish and create root mass on a slope, it then provides stability. It is great for construction, forestry sites and land slips to help stop any eroded soil from polluting nearby streams, rivers, and run off into the sea.
To reach challenging locations, we can utilise our snorkel lift, abseil, or lay hoses through wooded areas along paths, descending hills for distances of up to 150 meters.
With our all-terrain trailer we are able to utilise our canon to shoot across difficult to access sites up to 35 metres from the machine.
Rapid establishment of vegetation is crucial in erosion control and stabilisation. We use advanced formulas from innovative suppliers PGG Wrightson and ProGanics to achieve an effective erosion control result through hydroseeding.
How hydroseeding helps control erosion
Once our specialist Stabilisation Hydroseeding is applied, the blend of seeds form roots that can extend up to 12 inches in the earth, creating a network of wall-like root systems under the surface of soil. These root systems work like an underground foundation, strengthening the soil, protecting it from harsh erosion and weather events.
We use superior tackifiers in our mixtures to help mulch and seed stick like glue to the soil. We can also use top-soil alternatives (AHC Spray Soil) that supports the development of depleted soils/substrates with low organic matter, low nutrient levels and limited biological activity.
AHC Spray Soil is not a direct replacement for expensive topsoil, but provides an abundant source of organic matter and soil building components.
AHC Spray Soil
AHC Spray Soil (Spray on Biotic Soil Media) is used together with hydroseeding on low fertility surfaces, ideally for steep and difficult areas where it is not cost effective to spread a topsoil layer over top.
By using AHC Spray Soil, it supplies a beneficial amount of soil building components which assists the development of the poor soils.
Starting with a decent soil base provides a layer that is high in organic matter for the seeds to germinate into and establish well over time.
AHC Spray Soil + Hydroseed layer = Establishment of vegetation on challenging substrates like clay cuts, slips, deep excavations, and low fertility substrates.
Whether you require temporary stabilisation or long-term vegetation establishment, we have the right solution to achieve this.
